Mission

IAB Spain is the association that represents the interactive advertising sector in Spain. IAB Spain integrates all the different participants in the interactive sector including media and creative agencies, editors, search engines, affiliation networks, consultant companies and technology providers. The main mission of IAB Spain is to promote the growth of interactive marketing in Spain and to establish its standards.

Members

IAB Spain had 124 members in September 2008.

Workgroups

By participating in workgroups and task forces, members share their knowledge and experience to help the market grow and become more professional. The ultimate objective of the workgroups is publishing a White Paper.

IAB Spain currently manages five different workgroups:

  • Interactive Agencies
  • Interactive TV
  • Social Networks
  • Editors
  • Communication Groups

A new workgroup, Lobby, will be active in Q4 2008.

Workgroups meet once each six weeks to update the working plan and to prepare the material to produce the white paper.

To spread the importance of the interactive advertising sector, IAB Spain sponsors a number of marketing and advertising events. We look for agreements that will promote interactive advertising and generate positive PR.

Events

IAB Spain organizes several events in order to promote interactive marketing in Spain.

Inspirational Festival: Yearly Festival that represents the most important event of the digital sector in Spain. In 2007 there were more than 1,200 attendees. It had a huge impact in the media. It takes two days and the programme includes more than 20 conferences, and workshops.

IAB Seminar: Yearly seminar organized with the Association of Advertisers (AEA), mainly as a practical event to promote the interactive sector. Some advertisers are invited to this event in order to speak about their experiences with the digital marketing. The Association of Advertisers (AEA) invites its members to this event. Almost 700 attendees registered for the 2008 event.

El Sol Festival: El Sol is the most important advertising festival in the Spanish market. IAB Spain reached one of its milestones when the organization of this Festival allowed the IAB to create the ‘Interactive journey’. IAB invites an interesting speaker to present to the conference and take part in a round table about interactive advertising and digital marketing. This event is followed by the key players in the advertising sector in Spain and in Latin America.

IAB Spain puts special emphasis on organizing educational events to promote the interactive sector and to spread knowledge of different digital marketing techniques among advertisers.

  • Master IAB-UCM: Yearly masters in cooperation with one of the most important public universities in Spain: Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). 2008-2009 is going to be the third edition of this official masters that takes place between October and July. Teachers include both IAB company members and University teachers specializing in Advertising and Communication. Each year there is an average of 20 students, some have recently achieved a degree and others work in the interactive sector.
  • Thematic Workshops: These are events in which a company member of the IAB Spain runs a workshop on a particular theme. These monthly breakfast workshops last about two hours. Each IAB member may invite an advertiser company.
  • IESE Event: IESE is one of the most prestigious business schools in Spain. IAB organizes a yearly educational seminar for advertisers. It is a practical event that lasts five hours with speakers from both the IAB and from the advertising sector.
  • IAB University: In Q4 2008 IAB Spain will launch this new format of seminar focused on the specialization of digital marketing and advertising professionals. IAB University courses will last two or three weeks depending of the subject, with a total of eight to 12 academic lessons. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a diploma certified both for the IAB and a business school.
  • Summer IAB University: Summer of 2009 will be the first in which IAB Spain will do thematic courses about interactive advertising and marketing.

Awards

Inspirational Awards

Awards for the best interactive campaigns coinciding with the Inspirational festival. These awards recognize the quality of the projects, and may be granted to persons, campaigns, projects and/or companies that the Jury consider inspirational for the online advertising industry. Registrations are free and open for members of any National IABs. Each company can register a maximum of five projects. The main goal is to discover and show new paths and trends rather than review projects already covered by other Festivals.

Special Projects

Interactive Investment Report: This report has become the main tool to measure the growth of the digital sector. It is issued twice a year in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Through this report IAB Spain has achieved one of its main goals – to be the ‘official’ source of information of the interactive sector. As a result Infoadex, the main source of the advertising sector in Spain uses the data provided on the interactive media.

Who is Who: Database with all the details of the professionals involved in the interactive advertising and marketing in Spain. Updated annually, we provide a CD with the information which is available to members on the website (www.iabspain.net).

The best interactive creativity: Coinciding with the Inspirational Festival, IAB Spain produces a CD with the best interactive creative of the year.
